Stachybotrys or Black Mold

Black Mold - Mold comes in many colors; some have a faint blue tinge, others are green, and you may even see a brown or red mold. The most dreaded mold infestation to face in your home is one of black mold. Black mold (which has a very dark green tinge to it) is not always toxic, but when it is it can cause serious neurological disorders.
Depending on the length of exposure and volume of spores inhaled or ingested, symptoms can manifest as chronic fatigue or headaches, fever, irritation to the eyes, mucous membranes of the mouth, nose and throat, sneezing, rashes, and chronic coughing. In severe cases of exposure or cases exacerbated by allergic reaction, symptoms can be extreme including nausea, vomiting, and bleeding in the lungs and nose.
Health problems related to this mold have been documented in humans and animals since the 1930s
Two cats died under anesthesia in what is believed to be the first documented case of black mold poisoning in pets. The cats had been living in Florida in a water damaged home. During routine dental procedures both cats experienced severe pulmonary hemorrhage and later died. Blood tests confirmed the presence of a toxin produced by Stachybotrys Chartarum " Black Mold", and severe mold contamination was found in the home. According to both the CDC and the American Academy of Pediatricians. In 1994, Cleveland, Ohio public health officials reviewed the deaths of nine infants from pulmonary hemorrhage. In a case-control study comparing other Cleveland infants to those who died, researchers discovered the quantity of black mold was higher in the homes where babies died. Exposure to tobacco smoke together with the mold appeared to increase the risk of pulmonary hemorrhage.
